For 40 years, The Dallas Morning News Charities has been a symbol of hope and compassion in North Texas, connecting the generosity of our community with local nonprofits that provide food, shelter, and care for our neighbors in need.

This year, our milestone 40th annual campaign begins on November 11, supporting 16 North Texas charities dedicated to helping the hungry and  homeless. Since 1986, our readers, donors, and community partners have helped raise more than $38.5 million, every dollar going directly toward changing lives.

40 Years of Impact and Hope

When The Dallas Morning News Charities started in 1986, the goal was simple: to help those struggling in our community with dignity and compassion. Four decades later, that mission is stronger than ever.

According to Feeding America, hundreds of thousands of North Texans continue to face hunger and housing insecurity,  including many children and working families. The Dallas Morning News Charities helps to bridge that gap by funding trusted local nonprofits that provide food, shelter, medical care, job training, and youth programs.

This year’s campaign runs through January 31, 2026, with a goal of raising $2 million to support vital services in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, and Ellis counties.

100% of Donations Go Directly to Local Nonprofits

Every penny you give goes where it’s needed most. The Dallas Morning News covers all administrative costs of the campaign, so 100% of every donation benefits the nonprofits on the frontlines of fighting hunger and homelessness.

Together, We Make a Difference

Over the years, more than 75 local nonprofits have partnered with The Dallas Morning News Charities, reaching thousands of North Texans in need. These partnerships have provided meals, safe shelter, counseling, education, and the opportunity for a fresh start.

Laura McGraw, Board Chair of The Dallas Morning News Charities, sums it up perfectly:

“For 40 years, our mission has remained the same to help our neighbors in need regain stability, self-sufficiency, and dignity. As we mark this milestone 40th campaign, we celebrate the compassion and generosity that define our North Texas community. Every gift, no matter the size, helps bring hope to those facing hunger and homelessness. When we come together, we give our neighbors the chance to build brighter, more hopeful futures.”
