When School Ends, Hunger Doesn’t
Texas continues to face one of the highest rates of food insecurity in the nation and across North Texas, 1 in 5 children may not know where their next meal will come from.
For thousands of children, school meal programs provide the most reliable source of daily nutrition. But when school breaks for summer, that critical support disappears — leaving many families struggling to fill the gap.
That’s why The Dallas Morning News Charities is launching its annual Kids Summer Feeding Campaign from May 18 through August 17, with a goal of raising $300,000 to help provide meals, snacks and grocery support to children and families across North Texas during the summer months.
In partnership with 11 trusted North Texas nonprofit organizations, Kids Summer Feeding helps deliver nutritious food and critical support to families facing food insecurity at a time when the need is especially high.
Our nonprofit partners include:
- All Community Outreach
- Arlington Life Shelter
- City House
- Cornerstone Community Development
- Irving Cares
- Mission Oak Cliff
- Sharing Life Community Outreach
- The MINT Foundation
- The Storehouse Community Center
- TRAC – Transition Resource Action Center
- Wilkinson Center
Every gift makes an immediate impact. With The Dallas Morning News covering all administrative expenses, 100% of donations go directly to nonprofit partners serving children and families in need.
Together, we can help ensure more children across North Texas have access to the meals they need to grow, thrive and return to school healthy and ready to learn.
