According to U.S. Census Bureau data from September 2023, “the poverty rate in the U.S. has risen dramatically in the year since pandemic benefits ran out — and the child poverty rate has more than doubled.”
Poverty, child poverty in particular, robs children of hope along with the ability to be a child by shifting focus from play, fun and learning to worries such as:
-Where will my family sleep tonight?
-Will I be hungry all weekend because I don’t have school lunch?
-Will I even be able to go back to school next week?
Because the need has grown, so has the fundraising goal. The Dallas Morning News Charities Annual Giving Campaign runs through December 31, with a goal of $1.25 Million. Will you help us help others? If the answer is yes, please complete the form below and 100% of your donation will go to 15 North Texas nonprofits actively helping our neighbors in need.
